IISW-SV-000111: Sufficient web server log records to establish identity
The IIS 8.5 web server must produce log records that contain sufficient information to establish the identity of any user, subject, or process associated with an event.
To check compliance with IISW-SV-000111, complete the following steps:
- Open the IIS 8.5 web server IIS Manager.
- Click the IIS 8.5 web server name.
- UnderIIS, double-click theLoggingicon.
- UnderLog File, verify that the format is set toW3C.
- ClickFields.
- UnderStandard Fields, verify thatUser Agent,User Name, andReferrerare selected.
- UnderCustom Fields, verify that the following fields are selected:
- Request Header >> User-Agent
- Request Header >> Authorization
- Response Header >> Content-Type
If any of these fields are not selected, your server is not compliant.
If your server is not compliant, complete the following steps:
- Open the IIS 8.5 web server IIS Manager.
- Click the IIS 8.5 web server name.
- UnderIIS, double-click theLoggingicon.
- UnderLog File, verify that the format is set toW3C.
- SelectFields.
- UnderStandard Fields, selectUser Agent,User Name, andReferrer.
- UnderCustom Fields, select the following fields:
- Request Header >> User-Agent
- Request Header >> Authorization
- Response Header >> Content-Type
- ClickOK.
- Under Actions, clickApply.
