Create a Factory reset protection profile
You must create a user ID for a
Google
account if you plan to specify Google
account credentials. For more information, see Obtain a user ID for a Google account.- On the menu bar, clickPolicies and Profiles > Managed devices > Protection > Factory reset protection.
- Type a name and description for the profile.
- Choose aFactory reset protection setting. Select one of the following options:
- Disable factory reset protection: If you disable factory reset protection, users are not prompted to enter aGoogleuser ID after the device is reset to factory settings.
- Enable and use previous Google account credentials when the device is reset to factory settings: This is the default option. If the user resets the device to factory settings using an untrusted method and aGoogleaccount existed on the device before it was reset, the account must be verified after the device is reset to factory settings. Note that if your organization uses a managedGoogleaccount structure, aGoogleaccount will not exist on the device and factory reset protection will not be available on the device.
- Enable and specify Google account credentials when the device is reset to factory settings: If you select this option, enter information in theUser ID for specified Google accountandEmail address for specified Google accountfields. For more information, see Obtain a user ID for a Google account. If the device is reset to factory settings using an untrusted method, the user must enter the email address and the password that is associated with the email address of theGoogleaccount that you enter.Note that if you select this option and provide theGoogleaccount credentials, theGoogleaccount credentials that existed on the device will no longer work.
