- Configure Direct Connect or a web proxy for BlackBerry Proxy connections
Configure Direct Connect or a web proxy for BlackBerry Proxy connections
Direct Connect
or a web proxy for BlackBerry Proxy
connectionsBy default, the
BlackBerry
Dynamics
apps on users’ devices send data to the BlackBerry
Dynamics
NOC. Depending on the physical distance between devices and the BlackBerry
Dynamics
NOC, connections might experience some network latency.
To mitigate these issues, you can enable
BlackBerry Dynamics Direct Connect
. Direct Connect
allows BlackBerry
Dynamics
apps to bypass the connection to the NOC and connect directly to a BlackBerry Proxy
instance behind your organization’s firewall. If devices are physically closer to the BlackBerry Proxy
instances in your domain than they are to the BlackBerry
Dynamics
NOC, Direct Connect
can reduce network latency. You can also configure
BlackBerry
Dynamics
apps to send data through a web proxy server in the DMZ when they connect to a BlackBerry Proxy
instance.- If you want to route connections fromBlackBerry Dynamicsapps through a web proxy server, the proxy server must support the HTTP Connect command and must not require authentication. Your organization’s internal firewall must allow connections over port 17533.
- If you do not configure a web proxy server for aBlackBerry Proxyinstance, your organization’s internal and external firewalls must allow connections over port 17533.
- In the management console, on the menu bar, clickSettings > BlackBerry Dynamics.
- ClickDirect Connect.
- Click aBlackBerry Proxyinstance.
- To turn onDirect Connect, select theTurn on Direct Connectcheck box. In theBlackBerry Proxy host namefield, verify that the host name is correct. If you change the host name, theBlackBerry Proxyinstance generates a new certificate for client connections and sends a request to theBlackBerry DynamicsCA to sign the certificate.
- To configure a web proxy, select theUse web proxycheck box. Specify the fully qualified host name and port number.
- ClickSave.
