Install the Desktop Experience feature
Installing the Desktop Experience requires the computer to be restarted.
- ClickStart, hover overAdministrative Tools, and clickServer Manager.
- In the left pane, clickFeatures.
- In theFeatures Summarysection, clickAdd Features.
- On theSelect Featurespage, selectDesktop Experience.
- Review the required features that need to be installed with the Desktop Experience feature, and then clickAdd Required Features.
- ClickNext.
- On theConfirm Installation Selectionspage, confirm that you want to install the Desktop Experience feature.
- ClickInstall. The Installation Progress page displays the progress of the installation.
- To complete the installation, restart the server. To restart the server, clickCloseand then clickYes.
- After the server restarts, log on to the computer with the same user account. Wait for the remaining steps of the installation to finish.
- When theInstallation Resultspage appears, confirm that the installation of Desktop Experience succeeded, and clickClose.
- To confirm that Desktop Experience is installed, complete the following steps:
- Start Server Manager.
- In the left pane, clickFeatures.
- In theFeatures Summarysection, confirm that Desktop Experience is listed as installed.After you install Desktop Experience, theWindows7 components and features, such asWindows Media Player, appear under All Programs on the Start menu.
